During the first few years of the 1980's Kevin Willey and Jim Wiltshire were both self-employed electricians working independently of each other in the Andover area. Kevin approached Jim to ask if he could help with some up-coming work, which led to them working regularly together on an informal basis.
In 1983 they decided to go ahead and merge their businesses and begin trading as "Wiltshire and Willey". Jim's business had been predominately commercial and agricultural and Kevin's mainly domestic. The business grew and after 15 years Wiltshire and Willey became incorporated in 1997.
In 2005 Kevin and Jim put their business up for sale. This was a decision brought about by their desire to develop the Company further, with the support of a cash investor who would assist in designated areas, such as the increasing emphasis on health and safety and regulatory reforms such as Part P. On a chance meeting with Gordon Green, Director of Wessex Electricals, they mentioned that the business was for sale and asked if The Wessex Group would be interested in an acquisition.
In August 2005 Wiltshire and Willey became part of the family owned Wessex Group, but retaining their name and identity as Wiltshire and Willey was already a well-recognised name in the Andover area. The Wessex Group, who are based in Shaftesbuy, Dorset, assist and support with the day to day running of the administration and other support functions such as IT, HR and Health and Safety.
In 2013 Wiltshire and Willey celebrated 30 years in business, the high point of which was a gala evening the Bournemouth International Centre, where they were joined by all the companies in the Wessex Group
